David Wilson rushed for 148 yards and No. 15 Virginia Tech made three key defensive stops in the fourth quarter to survive a scare from Duke for a 14-10 victory on Saturday.

The Hokies (8-1, 4-1 ACC) stopped the Blue Devils on fourth down from the Hokies 15 yard line with 4:37 left and Barquell Rivers intercepted a pass on Duke's final drive to seal the victory.

Virginia Tech, which had three interceptions, has won 11 straight over Duke (3-5, 1-3).

The Hokies emerged from a mistake-filled first half with a 14-7 lead. The two teams combined for five turnovers and three missed field goals in the half. Virginia Tech also had 55 penalty yards before the intermission.

Virginia Tech quarterback Logan Thomas, who was intercepted twice in the first half, flipped a 2-yard touchdown pass to tight end Eric Martin with 4:14 left in the first quarter. It was Martin’s first career TD.

Duke tied it at seven on Desmond Scott’s 3-yard run less than a minute into the second quarter, but the Hokies immediately drove 90 yards in eight plays to take the lead for good on Josh Oglesby’s 1-yard run.

Blue Devils’ safety Matt Daniels had two interceptions, both in the first half, and finished with 13 tackles.

Duke kicker Will Snyderwine missed a 29-yard field goal with 12:27 left and missed three field goals in the game.
