Andrew Luck threw four touchdown passes in the second half and No. 5 Stanford extended the nation’s longest win streak to 14 games with a 44-14 victory over host Washington State on Saturday.
Stanford (6-0, 4-0 Pac-12 North) led just 10-7 at halftime after committing two early turnovers, but the Cardinal dominated Washington State (3-3, 1-2 Pac-12 North) after the break.
After throwing for 86 yards and an interception in the first half, Luck took control with two third-quarter touchdown passes to tight end Levine Toilolo and finished 23-of-36 passing for 336 yards.
Luck threw three of his four touchdowns to his tight ends, who have accounted for 12 of Stanford’s 19 touchdown receptions this season.
Cougars quarterback Jeff Tuel made his first start of the year and threw for only 145 yards against Stanford’s defense, which has held its opponent scoreless in 14 out of 24 quarters.
Marshall Lobbestael replaced Tuel in the fourth quarter and scored on a 1-yard run. Washington State, which entered the game averaging 41 points, was held to 257 yards, including 48 rushing.
