Final Scoring Summary
Recap
No. 13 Texas A&M let a big halftime lead slip away for the second consecutive week as No. 18 Arkansas rallied for a 42-38 win Saturday in Arlington, Texas.
The Aggies (2-2, 0-1 Big 12), who squandered a 20-3 lead last week against Oklahoma State, led 35-17 at the half before the Razorbacks began chipping away.
Arkansas (4-1, 0-1 SEC) scored 18 unanswered to tie the game in the fourth quarter. The Razorbacks then drove 80 yards on nine plays to score the game-winning touchdown on a Broderick Green run with 1:41 remaining after the Aggies had taken a 38-35 lead.
Arkansas quarterback Tyler Wilson set a school record with 509 passing yards. He completed 30-of-51 passes for two touchdowns and no interceptions. It was the second straight week an opposing quarterback set a school record for passing yards against Texas A&M.
Jarius Wright was Wilson’s primary target. The senior receiver snagged 13 passes for a school-record 281 yards and a touchdown. In addition, it was Wright who jumped on Cobi Hamilton’s fumble in the end zone on Arkansas’ game-tying score with 11 minutes left in the fourth quarter.
Texas A&M’s up-tempo, no-huddle offense did as it pleased throughout the first half. The Aggies scored rushing touchdowns on five of their first eight possessions and totaled 225 rushing yards and 179 passing yards in the first two quarters.
Texas A&M finished with 628 yards of offense, led by Christine Michael’s 230 yards on 32 carries, but Randy Bullock’s 23-yard field goal with 4:22 remaining was the Aggies’ only score of the second half.
The Razorbacks are now 3-0 over their former Southwest Conference rival since the series resumed with an annual meeting at Cowboys Stadium in 2009.
Texas A&M, which has lost its last seven games to SEC foes, was officially accepted as the SEC’s 13th team Sunday and will begin play in the conference next season.
