A goal-line stand in the final minute lifted Kansas State to a thrilling 28-24 road win over Miami (Fla.) on Saturday afternoon.

The Hurricanes (1-2) briefly appeared to take the lead on a fourth-down quarterback sneak by Jacory Harris with 49 seconds remaining, but replay officials ruled that Harris' knee hit the ground well before the ball reached the goal line. Kansas State (3-0), which came into the game leading the nation in total defense and scoring defense, had stuffed Mike James at the 1-yard line on the two previous plays.

Miami rallied from an 11-point deficit to grab a 24-21 lead with 14:17 remaining, but the Wildcats responded by marching 80 yards in eight plays, all on the ground. John Hubert, who finished with 166 yards rushing, keyed the drive with a 47-yard run and capped it with a 2-yard burst that put Kansas State back on top with 10 minutes to go.

Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein was 12-of-18 passing for 133 yards and two scores, adding 93 yards rushing and another score. Harris threw for 272 yards to pace the Hurricanes.

The start of the game was delayed by nearly 30 minutes due to lightning in the Miami area.
