Case Keenum passed for 415 of Houston's total 732 yards as the Cougars scored five touchdowns in the first half en route to a 56-0 rout of visiting Georgia State on Saturday.
The Cougars (4-0) came in ranked first in FBS in passing yards per game (408), and Keenum ripped apart the overmatched Panthers’ secondary. He completed 29-of-34 passes in two and a half quarters, and threw a pair of touchdowns to Justin Johnson (18 yards and 9 yards) as Houston led 21-0 after one quarter.
Bryce Beall scored in the first quarter on a 3-yard run. After Michael Hayes scored on a 2-yard run in the second quarter, Beall added a 4-yard touchdown run with 2:07 left as Houston totaled 390 yards and built a 35-0 halftime lead.
Keenum moved past Brigham Young's Ty Detmer into third place on the NCAA FBS career passing yards list. The senior has 15,120 yards, 673 behind Texas Tech's Graham Harrell for second. Hawaii's Timmy Chang is No. 1 with 17,072 yards.
Georgia State (1-3) has allowed 37 or more points in all its losses this season.
Houston opens its Conference USA season Thursday at Texas-El Paso.
