Sophomore quarterback Edward Wright-Baker enjoyed the best day of his young career as he passed for 273 yards and two touchdowns to lead Indiana to a 38-21 win over visiting South Carolina State on Saturday.

The win was the first of the year for the Hoosiers (1-2) and the first as a head coach for Kevin Wilson, who came to IU after serving as the offensive coordinator at Oklahoma the past nine years.

After digging out of a 20-point hole in the home opener last week only to lose on the final play of the game to Virginia, the Hoosiers wasted little time against South Carolina State (1-2), scoring a pair of touchdowns in the first six minutes of the game as Wright-Baker drove Indiana on two quick scoring drives. He was 12-of-14 for 163 yards in the first quarter alone and finished 21-of-27.

Indiana led 24-7 at halftime and traded a pair of scores with the Bulldogs in the second half. Wright-Baker's favorite target was fellow sophomore wide receiver Duwyce Wilson, who had career bests of six catches for 101 yards and a 30-yard touchdown reception in the back of the end zone in the first quarter that gave the Hoosiers a quick 7-0 lead.

True freshman running back D'Angelo Roberts, a hometown product from Bloomington, paced the Indiana ground game with 102 yards on 19 carries and a touchdown.

The Hoosiers totaled 569 yards of offense, 300 through the air and 269 on the ground.

Quarterback Derrick Wiley paced the South Carolina State attack, passing for 216 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for another 63 in a losing effort.
