In a tightly fought contest between two regional rivalries, Boston College (7-6, 4-3 ACC) was able to take a 16-7 road win over Syracuse.

Defense dominated the game's first half. Boston College's field goal kicker Nate Freese put up the only points on the board with two field goals to give the Eagles a 6-0 halftime lead.

Both offenses got going in the second half. Syracuse (7-5, 4-3 BIG EAST) notched their first score of the day on a five-yard touchdown run by running back Antwon Bailey with 9:39 left in the third quarter.

Later in the same quarter Boston College responded with a 1-yard rushing touchdown by Andre Williams to retake the lead 13-7. The Eagles capped the scoring with a 22-yard field goal with 6:48 left in the game.

Despite the loss Syracuse is bowl-bound for the first time since 2004, finishing with a winning record in the BIG EAST. Boston College finishes 7-6 on the year and is also bowl eligible.
