Recap: TCU 40, San Diego State 35
Nov 13, 2010
Third-ranked TCU is one win away from its second consecutive undefeated regular-season.
After falling behind early, the Frogs eventually pulled away for a 40-35 victory over San Diego State on Saturday afternoon.
It certainly won’t score TCU (11-0, 7-0 Mountain West) any style points, but it was an impressive game for San Diego State (7-3, 4-2) and second-year coach Brady Hoke.
The Aztecs took a two-touchdown lead less than six minutes into the game. On the opening drive, Ryan Lindley hooked up with Vincent Brown on a 49-yard pass play, which set up a 1-yard touchdown run by Brandon Sullivan.
Then, San Diego State got a defensive touchdown, as Jerome Long recovered a fumble in the end zone.
TCU roared back, though, tying the game at 14-14 by the end of the first quarter. Andy Dalton threw a 38-yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Kerley, and then Dalton connected with Logan Brock on a 15-yard scoring pass. TCU pulled away in the second quarter, scoring 21 more. Waymon James had a 9-yard touchdown run, and then Dalton and Kerley had two more touchdown connections.
However, San Diego State didn’t go away. The Aztecs pulled within 40-35 with a pair of touchdown passes from Lindley to Brown in the fourth quarter, but TCU ran out the clock to hold on for the victory.
