Ross Krautman kicked two field goals, both in the second half, to lead Syracuse to a 13-10 victory over Rutgers on Saturday in a Big East Conference matchup.

Syracuse (7-3, 4-2 Big East) becomes bowl eligible with the win and is a perfect 4-0 on the road in conference play. Both of Syracuse’s Big East setbacks have come at the Carrier Dome.

The Orange committed three turnovers but the defense never let the Scarlet Knights pull away. Syracuse was down 10-7 in the third quarter when Krautman booted a 48-yard field goal with 3:32 left in the third.

Syracuse set up Krautman for the game-winner by driving 60 yards in 10 plays, using up 2:38. Krautman capped the drive with a 24-yard field goal with 1:09 to play to give the Orange a 13-10 lead.

Rutgers (4-5, 1-3) was unable to mount a sustained drive in the final minute and dropped its third straight.

Ryan Nassib completed 16-of-33 passes for 212 yards and a touchdown with one interception for Syracuse, which is now one game behind Pittsburgh in the conference standings.

Jeremy Deering rushed for 162 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries for the Scarlet Knights. He scored on a 19-yard run with just under four minutes gone by in the third quarter to give Rutgers a 10-7 lead.

What did Rutgers in was its lack of a passing game to compliment Deering. Three different Scarlet Knight attempted at least two passes and they combined to go 10-of-25 for just 111 yards.
