Recap

Count Oklahoma among the national title contenders that emerged on Saturday.

DeMarco Murray rushed for two touchdowns to lead the No. 9  Sooners past No. 16 Texas 28-20.

Murray scored on a 20-yard run early in the fourth quarter that put the Sooners up 28-10. But Texas rallied back and cut the lead to 28-20 with 1:39 to play.

The Longhorns were in position to begin a potential game-tying drive, but Aaron Williams muffed a punt and Oklahoma recovered to seal the victory.

The Sooners ended a two-game slide in the Red River Rivalry, and took the upper hand in the Big 12 South race. Bob Stoops’ team heads into its bye week at 5-0 and in the thick of the BCS hunt.

The loss, coupled with last week’s disappointment against UCLA, ends any national title hopes for Texas (3-2, 1-1).

Murray opened the scoring with an 18-yard run in the first quarter. Quarterback Landry Jones added a pair of touchdown passes in the first half to give Sooners a 21-7 lead at the break.

Murray finished with 115 yards on 25 carries, and his fourth multi-touchdown game of the season.

D.J. Monroe had a 60-yard run for the Longhorns in the first half, and Cody Johnson scored from 5 yards out in the fourth to get Texas back in the game.

Jones completed 24-of-39 passes for 236 yards and two touchdowns.

Texas quarterback Garrett Gilbert was 27 of 41 for 266 yards and an interception.
