Johnathan Franklin rushed for three touchdowns as the UCLA Bruins rolled over No. 23 Houston 31-13 at the Rose Bowl on Saturday night.

The Bruins, who were shut out a week ago, rolled up 267 yards of offense on the ground en route to their first win of the season.

The Bruins' defense was even more impressive, stopping the high-powered Cougars' offense and quarterback Case Keenum. The Cougars (2-1) had scored 122 points in their first two games of the season, but Keenum was held to 83 yards on 10-of-18 passing with two interceptions before leaving with an injury.

Keenum was hurt for the second straight week making a tackle after his second interception. He stayed on the field for a couple of minutes before making his way to the sideline. He was then taken to the locker room with an apparent knee injury, and did not return.

Houston, which used four quarterbacks in the game, led 3-0 on a 29-yard field goal by Matt Hogan in the first quarter. But UCLA (1-2) led 21-3 at the half on touchdown runs of 11 and 2 yards by Franklin, sandwiched around a 2-yard score by quarterback Kevin Prince.

Franklin scored again in the third quarter on a 12-yard run to make it 31-3. He finished with 157 yards on 26 carries.
