Denard Robinson threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as No. 22 Michigan shook off a slow start and survived a late scare for a 42-37 victory over Massachusetts, an FCS school, on Saturday.

Robinson was 10-of-14 for 241 yards and rushed for 104 yards on 17 carries.

Michael Shaw added 126 rushing yards and three touchdowns on just 12 carries.

Massachusetts (2-1) grabbed a 17-7 lead with 1:22 left before halftime on a pair of touchdown runs by Jonathan Hernandez, and the Wolverines (3-0) had flashbacks of their stunning upset loss to Appalachian State in 2007 at Michigan Stadium

But the Wolverines struck quickly, Robinson throwing 66 yards to Darryl Stonum for a touchdown. The Minutemen fumbled, and Robinson found Stonum for a 9-yard scoring pass and 21-17 lead with 20 seconds left in the half.

From there, the Wolverines got two touchdowns runs of 34 and 4 yards by Shaw. Robinson tacked on an 8-yard touchdown run, his fourth rushing touchdown of the season, for a 42-24 lead.

Kyle Havens countered with a 5-yard touchdown to Julian Talley as the Minutemen closed to 42-30 with 5:21 remaining. Then they blocked a Michigan punt. Havens threw a 7-yard touchdown to Andrew Krevis to cut the deficit to 42-37 with 2:08 remaining.

But the Wolverines held on to keep their record unblemished.
