Indiana showed off all facets of its offense in a 51-17 opening rout of visiting Towson Thursday.

Quarterback Ben Chappell completed 16 of 23 attempts for 176 yards and two touchdowns, and running back Darius Willis rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries.

Indiana built a 17-0 first-quarter lead, but had to fend off a challenge from the visiting Tigers in the second quarter.

Chappell hooked up with Ted Bolser on a 12-yard touchdown pass for the Hooisers' first score. Willis added to the lead with 49-yard touchdown that put Indiana up 14-0, just six minutes into the game.

Towson quarterback Chris Hart's second touchdown pass of the first half, a 64-yard completion to Hakeem Moore, cut Indiana's lead to 24-14 early in the second.

The Hoosiers answered back with two touchdowns right before half. Kevin Bush's punt block set up Willis' second score of the first half and put Indiana up comfortably, 38-14, at intermission.

Matt Ernest added a 57-yard interception return for a touchdown in the third quarter to help Indiana coast to an easy win.
