Wake Forest, hoping to rebound from a 5-7 season, broke in four rookie quarterbacks Thursday night and overwhelmed little Presbyterian College 53-13.

Sophomore quarterback Ted Stachitas played the first half in Wake's first game since the departure of all-time leading passer Riley Skinner. He was 7 of 13 for 84 yards and rushed 10 times for 76 yards and a 34-yard touchdown. True freshman Tanner Price started the second half, taking over with a 35-7 lead, but Wake couldn't get much going behind him.

Redshirt freshman Brandan Cross and junior Skylar Jones got some QB reps in the fourth quarter, when Wake Forest got scoring runs of 85 yards by wide receiver Devon Brown and 46 yards by running back Josh Harris.

Wake Forest defensive end Kyle Wilber had three sacks, forced a fumble and blocked a kick.

Presbyterian got most of its first-half passing yardage on one tricky play, a 68-yard touchdown pass from wide receiver Derri Overholt to Michael Ruff. On the first series of the second half, three penalties worth 35 yards helped the Blue Hose drive 80 yards to a touchdown, an 18-yard pass from Brandon Miley to Anderic Bailey.

Presbyterian of Clinton, S.C., is coming off an 0-11 season during its transition up to full status in the Football Championship Subdivision.

Wake Forest gained 509 yards to Presbyterian's 362.
