Villanova 75, No. 4 Syracuse 71 (OT): Darrun Hilliard scored a career-high 25 points, Ryan Arcidiacono made a 3-pointer with 2.2 seconds left in regulation to force overtime and James Bell scored eight points in the extra frame as the host Wildcats won their second straight game over a top-five team.
Villanova (13-7, 4-3 Big East), which knocked off No. 5 Louisville on Tuesday, scored the last six points of regulation before Bell took control in overtime to give the Wildcats a 71-68 lead with 28 seconds left in the extra period. Brandon Triche and Michael Carter-Williams both split a pair at the foul line and Triche blew a layup with 13 seconds left as the Orange were unable to answer.
Mouphtaou Yarou logged 14 points and 16 rebounds, Bell finished with 13 and seven and Arcidiacono tallied 10 points for the WIldcats. Triche led Syracuse (18-2, 6-1) with 24 points, Carter-Williams added 17 on 4-of-17 shooting and Jerami Grant came off the bench to score 12 before fouling out with 5:22 left in regulation.
Villanova opened the game on a 10-0 run en route to a 32-26 halftime lead behind 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting from Hilliard. Grant scored the first seven points of the second half before Triche made a 3-pointer and a jumper in a span of 41 seconds to give the Orange a 59-53 lead with 4:26 left in regulation.
Hilliard made a layup and Yarou hit a free throw before Arcidiacono drained the corner 3-pointer. Bell made two 3-pointers in overtime before the late layup to make it a three-point lead.
