No. 11 Creighton 79, Indiana State 66: Doug McDermott collected 25 points and nine rebounds and Gregory Echenique added 16 points and nine boards as the host Bluejays held off the pesky Sycamores in a key Missouri Valley Conference clash.
Austin Chatman contributed 13 points and nine assists for Creighton (14-1, 3-0 MVC), which has won eight straight since a loss to Boise State.
Jake Odum and Manny Arop scored 13 apiece and Justin Gant added 12 for Indiana State (9-5, 2-1), which has lost 14 straight road games against Creighton and has never won at CenturyLink Center.
The loss snapped a four-game win streak for the Sycamores, who led by as many as six in the first half before the Bluejays closed the half with six straight points to tie it at 27 at the break.
Indiana State opened up its largest lead at 39-32 with 17:19 left, but Creighton quickly closed the gap, then used a 12-1 burst to make it 61-52 with 6:38 to go and never trailed again.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Four of Indiana State's five losses have come against teams that were ranked at the time. … After hitting 25 3-pointers in its first two conference games, Creighton was 11-for-22 from long range Saturday. … McDermott has scored 25 or more points seven times this season, including five of the past seven games.
