Rutgers plays its first home game in three weeks when it meets George Washington on Tuesday. The Scarlet Knights went 2-1 in three games outside the state of New Jersey, including an 81-73 victory over Iona on Saturday in the Madison Square Garden Holiday Festival. Rutgers has won five out of six since a season-opening loss to St. Peter's, but is 146th on the RPI list while playing the 277th most difficult schedule among the 347 Division I teams. The Colonials, ranked 181st, have lost two straight by a combined seven points, including a 65-62 setback to Kansas State on Saturday.

ABOUT GEORGE WASHINGTON (4-5): Junior forward Isaiah Armwood, a transfer from Villanova, leads the Colonials in scoring (12.9) and rebounding (9.1) and two of his four double-doubles this season have come in the last two games. Armwood, who played against Rutgers three times while with the Wildcats, leads Atlantic 10 Conference players in rebounding (9.1) and blocks (3.3). Freshman Patricio Garino, third on the team in scoring (10.9), had a season-high 24 points in GW's 72-68 loss at Bradley on Dec. 4. The Colonials were picked to finish 13th in the 16-team A-10 and didn't have a player selected on any of the preseason teams. George Washington is 89-155 against current members of the Big East.

ABOUT RUTGERS (5-2): The Scarlet Knights have been led by sophomore guards Eli Carter (16 points per game) and Miles Mack (15.4). The Scarlet Knights have also benefitted from their depth as nine players are averaging at least 13 minutes. Junior guard Mike Poole came off the bench to score a career-high 18 points against Iona. Senior guard-forward Dane Miller (8.1 points, 6.9 rebounds) had 13 points and 13 rebounds against Iona for his 13th career double-double. Wally Judge, a transfer from Kansas State, has provided muscle up front by averaging 7.9 points and a team-high 7.9 rebounds. Rutgers is 34th in the country in rebounds (40.3), with George Washington (38.2) close behind.

TIP-INS

1. Rutgers leads the series, which resumes after a 17-year break, 22-18 and has won 16 of 19 meetings at the Rutgers Athletic Center.The former A-10 rivals met every year from 1976-95.

2. Rutgers and George Washington each defeated Boston University this season. The Scarlet Knights edged the Terriers 81-79 on Nov. 20 while the Colonials won at Boston 72-59 on Nov. 17.

3. Rutgers has three more non-conference games against teams that are a combined 12-18 before it begins the Big East portion of its schedule at No. 4 Syracuse on Jan. 2.
