Recap

Miami 75, Massachusetts 62: Reggie Johnson finished with 19 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks as the Hurricanes grabbed their fourth straight victory by defeating the Minutemen for the fourth time in as many meetings.

Durand Scott poured in 15 points and Shane Larkin added 14 points and six rebounds for Miami (5-1), which collected its first road win of the season three days after securing its first home win over a top-15 non-conference opponent in 23 years.

The Hurricanes trailed 19-12 midway through the first half, but Larkin and Johnson combined to score the next nine points of the game. UMass (3-3) responded and took a short-lived 25-21 advantage on a 3-pointer from Freddie Riley, but Larkin answered with one of his own as Miami scored nine unanswered points over the final 3:02 of the first half.

The Minutemen managed to trim their deficit to one point on two occasions – the final time coming with 7:36 remaining – but Rion Brown and Kenny Kadji each drained a 3-pointer and Johnson scored five consecutive points as Miami outscored UMass 21-9 over the remainder of the game.

Terrell Vinson finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds to pace the Minutemen, who committed a season-low six turnovers.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Johnson’s double-double was his third of the season and 16th of his career. He has secured at least nine rebounds in each game this season. … Massachusetts’ only second-half turnover came with 1:43 remaining. … The Minutemen, who shot 7-of-32 beyond the arc, made just three of their 20 3-point attempts in the first half.
