No. 7 Florida 82, Marquette 49: Michael Frazier II went 5-of-8 from 3-point range en route to 17 points and Will Yeguete added 11 points and seven rebounds as the Gators cruised past the visiting Golden Eagles in the SEC/Big East Challenge.
Casey Prather was a perfect 4-of-4 from the field and 2-of-2 from the line for 11 points and Patric Young collected 10 points and 10 rebounds for Florida (6-0), which has won each of its first six games by at least 13 points.
Vander Blue returned from a one-game absence to score 20 points but was the only player to reach double figures for Marquette (5-2), which failed to avenge a loss to the Gators from last spring’s Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament.
Frazier hit four 3-pointers in the first half, including two in the final 1:42 that helped Florida take a 38-24 lead into the break. Erik Murphy scored the first five points of a 9-0 burst to start the second half that stretched it to 47-24.
Frazier’s lone 3-pointer of the second half pushed the lead to 70-39 with 6:16 left, and Mike Rosario’s basket from beyond the arc kept it a 30-point spread with 3:21 to play.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Florida leading scorer Kenny Boynton was held to six points on 2-of-11 shooting. … The Gators lost three of their four games against Big East schools last season, beating only Marquette in the NCAA tournament. … Golden Eagles F Jamil Wilson, who went 7-of-8 from the field in a win over Maryland-Baltimore County on Monday, went 1-of-8 on Thursday.
