Carl Blair had a team-high 19 points - including a 15-for-17 effort from the free-throw line - for the Panthers.

The Panthers posted a 22-10 run to cut the Red Raiders' lead to 61-53, but Texas Tech kept its advantage with solid free-throw shooting. The Red Raiders connected on 22-of-28 from the line.

Texas Tech defeated Prairie View A&M in a season opener for the third time. The Red Raiders posted a 111-84 triumph in 1995 and an 82-53 victory in 2000. ...
