46: Harper Kamp had 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists as the
Golden Bears won their sixth straight game to move into first place in the
Pac-12.
Jorge Gutierrez scored 12 points and David Kravish added 11
for California (23-6, 13-3), which took a half-game lead over idle Washington
in the race for the conference title.
Chris Hines scored 15 points, Cedric Martin tallied 11 and
Jason Washburn added 10 for Utah (5-22, 2-13), which has lost eight straight
games.
Cal held a 46-30 after Kamp’s basket with 12:43 to go before
Utah scored nine consecutive points to cut its deficit to seven on Washburn’s
hoop with 9:36 to play. Jorge Gutierrez then scored three straight points to
start a 7-0 run to get the Golden Bears’ lead back up to 53-39 with 5 1/2
minutes remaining.
Utah played the Golden Bears evenly over the first 8 1/2
minutes before Cal went on a 15-6 run and took a 27-18 lead on two free throws
by Kamp with 4:04 remaining. Justin Cobbs hit a last-second 3-pointer to give
the Golden Bears a 35-23 halftime advantage.
The Golden Bears visit Colorado on Sunday and finish the
regular season at Stanford on March 4.

Gutierrez had five assists to raise his career total to 404 to become the sixth
player in Golden Bears history with more than 400. … Utah has scored less than
50 points nine times this season. … California leading scorer Allen Crabbe had
