Recap

MICHIGAN STATE 66, MINNESOTA 61: Draymond Green scored 17 points and Keith Appling hit key free throws down the stretch as the No. 6 Spartans staged a late comeback.

Michigan State (23-5, 12-3 Big Ten) has won six straight and defeated host Minnesota (17-11, 5-10) for the 12th time in its last 13 tries.

The Gophers controlled the game for the majority of the final 20 minutes. They took the lead on their first basket of the second half and held it until they wilted late as Brandon Wood and Green scored the first six points of an 8-0 run that overcame a 58-52 deficit.

However, it took a foul by Minnesota’s Rodney Williams near the end of the shot clock with 32 seconds remaining to allow the Spartans to grab only their second lead of the half at 60-58

Appling converted both foul shots and following a wild 3-point attempt from Austin Hollins, hit four more from the stripe as he and Austin Thornton drilled all eight of their free throw attempts over the final 32 seconds.

Minnesota aided Michigan State's comeback by committing four of its 11 second-half turnovers in the final 2:27.

Hollins hit a career-best four 3-pointers en route to a team-high 17 points for the Gophers, who have dropped four straight.
