Final Scoring Summary
Recap
WISCONSIN 65, PENN STATE 55: Josh Gasser and Jared Berggren led a 3-point assault as the No. 17 Badgers found their long-range stroke for one of the few times in Big Ten play this season.
Gasser scored a team-high 15 points and Berggren added 13 for Wisconsin (20-7, 9-5 Big Ten), which shot 11 of 22 from beyond the arc – its third-best effort from the 3-point line against a conference opponent.
Three Badgers – Gasser, Berggren and Jordan Taylor – each hit three 3-pointers for a team that entered the contest last in Big Ten play in 3-point percentage.
Wisconsin took control midway through the first half, nailing five straight 3-point attempts to turn a three-point lead into 27-13 advantage. The Badgers stretched the lead to 20 points with 11:57 remaining, but was held without a field goal for the next 6:22 as Penn State (12-16, 4-11 Big Ten) went on a 17-2 run to close to 51-46.
But each time the Nittany Lions threatened to turn it into a one-possession game, Berggren hit a 3-pointer to turn them away.
Tim Frazier posted his Big Ten-best 14th 20-point game of the season with 20 points for the Nittany Lions, who fell to 0-7 away from home in conference play and 1-10 in true road games this season.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Frazier became the first player in school history to record 500 points, 150 assists and 50 steals in a season… With its win, Wisconsin notched its ninth 20-win season under coach Bo Ryan, five more than the school had prior to his arrival in 2001… Penn State enjoyed a 32-8 advantage in points in the paint, but was outscored 33-12 from the 3-point line.
