Robert Sacre had 22 points and 10 rebounds as No. 23 Gonzaga survived a scare to edge visiting Eastern Washington 77-69 on Friday.
 
Elias Harris added 16 points for the Bulldogs (1-0), who improved to 53-7 all-time against their in-state rival.
 
Gonzaga has won each of its last 24 meetings against the Eagles (0-1), winning the previous games during the streak by an average of 18 points since last losing to them in 1990.
 
The Bulldogs appeared to be on their way to another blowout after taking a 12-point lead late in the first half, but Cliff Colimon and Collin Chiverton each hit two 3-pointers to spark a 12-3 run over the final 2:57 to narrow the gap to 38-35 at the break.
 
Although Gonzaga quickly increased the margin to eight points early in the second half, the Eagles continued their 3-point barrage and rallied to take the lead on three different occasions before going scoreless over nearly five minutes late in the contest - missing eight straight shots - while the Bulldogs hit 9-of-12 from the foul line over the same stretch.
 
Chiverton scored a game-high 25 points for Eastern Washington, which shot 45 percent (13-of-29) from the beyond the arc.
