Nuggets 96, Spurs 86: Wilson Chandler scored 29 points and Corey Brewer added 28 as Denver downed San Antonio to set a franchise record with its 21st consecutive home victory.

Andre Iguodala had 12 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists as the Nuggets improved to a league-best 36-3 at home while surpassing the record set by the 1984-85 squad. Denver has won five straight contests and is one game ahead of Memphis for the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference.

Tim Duncan and Gary Neal scored 17 points apiece for the Spurs, who were without guard Tony Parker (neck) for the second straight game. San Antonio fell into a tie with Oklahoma City for the top seed in the West.

Denver had a 69-63 lead entering the final quarter and exploded at the start with 13 straight points to push the lead to 19. San Antonio frantically rallied and got within 91-86 on a 3-point play by DeJuan Blair with 1:32 left before the Nuggets closed with five straight points to tie the franchise record of 54 victories.

The Spurs scored the first 14 points of the game and held the high-flying Nuggets to 11 first-quarter points. Denver recovered to lead 38-37 at halftime and put together third-quarter runs of 12-2 and 10-3 to take a six-point edge.

Nuggets PG Ty Lawson (foot) missed his fifth straight game and eighth of the last nine. … Spurs F Boris Diaw sat out for the second straight game and coach Gregg Popovich said before the game that Diaw will be sidelined two to three weeks. … Brewer has three consecutive 20-point outings and is averaging 24.3 points during the stretch.
