Recap

Timberwolves 115, Hornets 86: Dante Cunningham scored a season-high 18 points on 9-for-9 shooting and the host Timberwolves trounced the Hornets to snap a six-game losing streak.

Nikola Pekovic added 14 points and seven rebounds and Andrei Kirilenko contributed 12 points and six boards as Minnesota shot 58.4 percent to send New Orleans to its fourth consecutive defeat.

Rookie Anthony Davis scored 18 points and Robin Lopez added 16 for the Hornets, who fell behind by 19 points in the first quarter and never threatened the rest of the way.

Ricky Rubio, Pekovic and Kirilenko each scored seven points in a sensational first 12 minutes as Minnesota shot a blistering 75 percent (12-of-16) and closed the quarter with a 12-0 run to take a 33-14 lead en route to its second win in 13 games.

The Timberwolves extended the lead to as many as 30 points in the second quarter behind Cunningham, who hit all five shots in the quarter and finished the first half with 12 points on 6-for-6 shooting.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hornets G Eric Gordon, the team's second-leading scorer, did not play in keeping with the routine of holding him out in the second game of back-to-backs. ... Rubio finished with nine points and seven assists and had an assortment of highlight-reel passes as he continues to work his way back from knee surgery. ... Although Davis led the Hornets in scoring, the top overall pick in last year's draft had only two points and missed all three shots in the first half.
