Recap

Nuggets 126, Lakers 114: Corey Brewer tied a career high with 27 points off the bench and all five Denver starters scored in double figures as the hosts ended Los Angeles' five-game winning streak.

Brewer knocked down six 3-pointers to lead a balanced attack by the Nuggets, who improved to 9-1 at home. Kenneth Faried had 21 points and 15 rebounds, Andre Iguodala added 17 and 11 and Ty Lawson scored 17 points and dished out a season-high 14 assists.

Kobe Bryant erupted for a game-high 40 points in a losing cause while Pau Gasol finished with 19. Dwight Howard added 12 points and seven rebounds before he was ejected late in the third quarter after picking up a flagrant-two foul for shoving Faried with both hands during a shot attempt.

Denver dominated the boards in the early going, taking advantage of nine offensive rebounds to build a 29-26 first-quarter lead. The advantage grew to eight points before the Lakers responded, a Gasol jumper capping an 8-2 run that allowed Los Angeles to go into the break down by just three.

The second half belonged to the Nuggets, who went up by 13 on a Danilo Gallinari 3-pointer with 7:50 remaining in the third quarter and held off a late Laker surge to take a 96-87 advantage into the fourth. Iguodala padded the lead with a 3-pointer from the top of the arc early in the final period, Gallinari rattled off seven straight Denver points later in the quarter and Los Angeles didn't threaten the rest of the way.
