Hawks 126, Pistons 119 (2OT): Josh Smith scored a season-high 31 points to go with 10 rebounds and six assists and Al Horford added 22 points and 10 boards as host Atlanta won despite squandering a 22-point lead in the fourth quarter.
Lou Williams contributed 18 points, eight rebounds and seven assists and Anthony Morrow added 16 points off the bench for the Hawks, who have won two straight.
Will Bynum scored 31 points off the bench - one shy of a career high - to lead six players in double figures for the Pistons, who were denied their first three-game winning streak of the season. Fellow reserves Rodney Stuckey (16 points, 11 assists) and Andre Drummond (16 points, 12 rebounds) each recorded double-doubles.
Jeff Teague scored seven straight points in the second overtime, putting the Hawks up 113-112 with a 3-pointer and adding a pair of free throws and a driving layup to add to the cushion. Teague finished with 17 points and 11 assists.
After trailing 84-62 a little more than a minute into the fourth quarter, Detroit reeled off a 10-0 run to get it back within 10 and took a 101-100 lead on reserve forward Austin Daye's 3-pointer with four seconds left. Horford had two free throws for the win with one second left, but he missed the second to force overtime.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Atlanta has won six of the past seven meetings with Detroit. … Both teams had a chance to win it at the end of the first overtime, but Bynum missed on a drive to the basket and Smith missed a jumper at the buzzer. … Detroit has not won three straight since March 31-April 5.
