Cleveland led 46-37 at halftime and opened up a 20-point lead in the third quarter. Irving’s layup made it 67-47 with 4:01 remaining before Milwaukee went on a 16-2 run to cut its deficit to six.

The Cavaliers rediscovered their stride in the final quarter and Thompson’s basket made it 88-72 with 4:12 to play.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cleveland halted a nine-game losing streak against the Bucks. … Milwaukee frontcourt starters Luc Richard Mbah a Moute (four) and Larry Sanders (two) combined for six points on 1-of-10 shooting after combining for 37 points in Friday’s overtime victory against the Boston Celtics. … The double-double was Thompson’s eighth of the season, and he fell one board shy of matching his career high.
