Thunder 92, Hornets 88: Kevin Durant scored 25 of his 35 points in the second half as host Oklahoma City rallied from a double-digit deficit to stretch its winning streak to nine games.
Kevin Martin added 17 points and Russell Westbrook had 14 points and nine assists as the Thunder recovered from an 11-point, third-quarter deficit and survived a late-game scare.
Brian Roberts scored 16 points and Ryan Anderson added 14 for New Orleans, which lost its fifth straight contest. The Hornets were down two when Greivis Vasquez missed a go-ahead 3-point attempt with three seconds left before Oklahoma City’s Thabo Sefolosha hit two free throws with under a second left to sew up the victory.
The Hornets led 44-36 at halftime and boosted the lead to 11 on a basket by Austin Rivers with seven minutes left in the third quarter. The Thunder outscored New Orleans 16-2 over the ensuing 10-plus minutes to take a 67-64 lead with 8:56 remaining in the game.
Oklahoma City had an 86-80 edge after Nick Collison’s basket with 2:05 left. A 3-pointer by Roberts made it a one-point game with nine seconds left before the Thunder held on.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Oklahoma City’s streak of 12 consecutive 100-point games was snapped. … Rivers with 12 points and Anthony Davis with 11 also scored in double figures for New Orleans. … Westbrook attempted just three second-half shots – making two – after going 2-for-11 in the first half.
