Spurs 97, Kings 86: Tim Duncan collected 23 points and 12 rebounds as visiting San Antonio posted its ninth straight victory in Sacramento.
Patrick Mills scored 18 points on 8-of-9 shooting off the bench and Kawhi Leonard added 11 points and nine boards for the Spurs, who bounced back from their first loss of the season.
Jason Thompson and Marcus Thornton scored 17 points apiece and DeMarcus Cousins chipped in 14 for the Kings, who shot 35.2 percent in suffering their first home loss.
Sacramento pulled within 81-77 on Cousins’ layup with 5:01 remaining but went the next 5:51 without a field goal as San Antonio took control. Mills hit a 3-pointer and Leonard hit three free throws as the Spurs stretched it out to 93-81 with 1:28 to play.
The Kings trailed 47-39 at the half but got back in the game with a strong third quarter. Tyreke Evans scored eight points in the period and Thornton’s jumper cut it to 69-68 heading into the final period.
GAME NOTEBOOK: San Antonio PG Tony Parker scored five points to mark his third straight game under double figures. Parker has committed eight turnovers in the past two contests. … The Kings shot 18.8 percent (3 of 16) from 3-point range. … The Spurs overcame 20 turnovers.
