KINGS 104, JAZZ 103: DeMarcus Cousins hit one of two free throws with 3.8 seconds left to cap a 27-point, 14-rebound effort as visiting Sacramento defeated Utah.

Marcus Thornton scored 26 points and Isaiah Thomas added 19 points for the Kings, who snapped a four-game losing skid.

Al Jefferson had 27 points and 16 rebounds as Utah had its seven-game home winning streak end.

Sacramento trailed by six before closing the game with a 13-6 run. Thomas hit two free throws with 31.6 seconds remaining to tie the game prior to Cousins’ decisive free throw.

Gordon Hayward scored 19 points for Utah but missed a driving shot with two seconds left. The Jazz missed one tip and Jefferson’s ensuing tip-in went through the hoop after the buzzer sounded.

Utah fell one game off the pace for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference despite shooting a season-high 52 free throws (making 38) and accumulating a season-best 62 rebounds. The Jazz had 27 offensive rebounds while possessing a 62-48 edge on the boards.

Sacramento took an 88-86 lead on Jimmer Fredette’s basket with 7:34 to play before Utah used an 11-3 surge to take a 97-91 edge on Hayward’s hoop with 4:18 to play.

Alec Burks scored 15 points and Derrick Favors grabbed 14 rebounds for Utah, which shot just 35.2 percent.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Jefferson is averaging 23.5 points over the last six games … Sacramento was without Tyreke Evans (ankle) and Cousins left the game briefly to get stitches to close a cut over his left eye … Utah drops to 19-7 at home … Fredette had four points in 16 minutes in his second game in Salt Lake City after starring at nearby Brigham Young.
