Recap

The Cleveland Cavaliers scored 52 points in the paint and smashed the smaller Detroit Pistons on the glass for a 105-89 road win on Wednesday.

It was the Cavaliers' first road win this campaign after winning just seven games away from home all of last season.

Samardo Samuels had 17 points and Ramon Sessions had 16 off the bench for Cleveland (1-1), which placed six players in double figures. Top overall pick Kyrie Irving had 14 points and seven assists despite sitting the game’s final 17 minutes.

Ben Gordon had 25 points and Brandon Knight had 23 for the Pistons, who fell to 0-2 in part because they’ve been dominated on the glass in both games.

The Cavaliers recorded a 40-26 edge on the boards over Detroit, which is playing without Charlie Villanueva. He is serving a four-game suspension to start the season.
