Paul Millsap had 30 points and 14 rebounds and Deron Williams added 16 points and 15 assists as the Utah Jazz posted a 120-109 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night.
Al Jefferson finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds and Andrei Kirilenko scored 19 for the Jazz, who avoided losing the first three games of the season for the first time since the 1979-80 season.
C.J. Miles scored 21 points in 23 minutes off the bench as Utah (1-2) shot 53 percent from the field. The Jazz entered shooting 41 percent and averaging 91 points in their two losses.
Utah shot 54.5 percent from the floor in the first half and got 15 points, eight rebounds and three assists from Millsap in building a 56-40 lead at the break. The Jazz scored the last 10 points of the half and the first five of the second half, sparked by six consecutive points by Kirilenko to forge a 61-40 lead.
Utah stretched the advantage to 73-46 on a jumper by Raja Bell 5 ½ minutes into the third period and Oklahoma City (2-1) got no closer than 15 points the rest of the way.
Kevin Durant scored 28 points on 8-of-19 shooting and Russell Westbrook added 22 for the Thunder, but most of their output came after the game had been decided. Jeff Green scored 13 of his 17 points in the first half and added nine rebounds for Oklahoma City, which shot just 40 percent.
