Recap

Josh Smith had 29 points and a season-high 16 rebounds as the Atlanta Hawks won a 12th straight game against the Washington Wizards, 99-92, on Saturday.

Marvin Williams had 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Hawks, who won their third in a row and improved to 12-4 in the second game of back-to-backs despite playing without All-Star Al Horford.

A bruised lower back suffered when fouled hard by Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night on the game’s final play kept Horford on the sidelines.

Nick Young led five players in double figures with 21 points for the Wizards, who missed five straight free throws in the decisive fourth quarter en route to extending their losing streak to a season-high eight straight games and falling to 0-10 in the second of back-to-back games.

Smith spun baseline and converted a three-point play to provide Atlanta a 91-83 lead with 2:48 left in the game and Washington never got closer than five thereafter.

Joe Johnson and Smith scored 15 each in the first half to offset 16 points by Young as Atlanta led 52-46 at the break.
