Seattle Mariners vs Los Angeles Angels Box Score on Sep 15, 2018

Robinson Cano's two-out, three run double in the eighth inning completed a rally from a four-run deficit to lift the Seattle Mariners to a 6-5 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday night in Anaheim, Calif.

The Mariners trailed 4-0 early in the game but chipped away at Los Angeles' lead, leading to the eighth inning when they came to bat trailing 4-3.

The rally got started when Kristopher Negron struck out for what would have been the second out of the inning, but the pitch by Jose Alvarez got away from catcher Jose Briceno for a wild pitch, allowing Negron to reach first.

Denard Span walked, and one out later, Jean Segura walked to load the bases with two out for Cano.

On a 1-1 pitch from Williams Jerez, Cano got ahold of an 86-mph slider and hit it over the head of Mike Trout in center field to drive in all three baserunners and put Seattle on top 6-4.

The Angels got within 6-5 in the bottom of the ninth on a solo homer by Justin Upton, his second homer of the game and No. 29 on the season. But Edwin Diaz was able to close it out for his 55th save.

With the win, the Mariners moved to within 7 1/2 games of the Oakland A's for the second wild-card spot in the American League. The Mariners have 14 games remaining.

The Angels jumped out to a first-inning lead against Mariners starter Erasmo Ramirez, getting a two-run homer from Trout and a solo homer from Shohei Ohtani. It was Trout's 34th home run of the season and Ohtani's 20th.

Upton homered to lead off the fourth inning, increasing the Angels' lead to 4-0. Ramirez got through the fourth but was finished, having given up the four runs on four hits and one walk.

Angels starter Andrew Heaney took the 4-0 lead into the fifth, having given up four hits. But in the fifth, Negron led off with a home run, and one out later, Mitch Haniger hit a solo homer to cut the Angels' lead to 4-2.

Heaney left with a lead after his five innings, giving up the two runs on eight hits and one walk.

In the sixth, Negron came up with another big hit, getting an RBI single off Angels reliever Justin Anderson to narrow Los Angeles' advantage to 4-3.
