NEW YORK -- Didi Gregorius laced a tiebreaking, two-run double in the seventh inning Wednesday night as the New York Yankees beat the New York Mets 5-3 at Citi Field.

The Yankees (64-55) have won the first three games of the four-game Subway Series, which began with games at Yankee Stadium on Monday and Tuesday. They will go for the third season sweep in Subway Series history Thursday. The Yankees swept a six-game series in 2003, while the Mets swept a four-game series in 2013.

The Mets (53-65) fell 12 games under .500 for the first time since September 2013.

Aaron Judge went an eventful 2-for-5 for the Yankees. The rookie blasted his American League-leading 37th homer, a mammoth shot into the upper deck in left field, while also striking out for the 33rd straight game, setting a single-season record for position players. Chase Headley was 2-for-4 with a sacrifice fly, while Garrett Cooper had a run-scoring groundout.

Ronald Torreyes had two hits for the Yankees, including a leadoff double in the seventh. After one-out walks to Jacoby Ellsbury and Aaron Hicks, Paul Sewald (0-5) retired Judge on a popup before Gregorius doubled to right field.

Gregorius' hit made a winner out of Tommy Kahnle (2-3), who got the final two outs of the sixth. David Robertson earned his 14th save, and his first since he was acquired by the Yankees on July 18, with a hitless ninth.

Rene Rivera hit a homer for the Mets while Yoenis Cespedes and Travis d'Arnaud each lofted sacrifice flies. Juan Lagares had two hits.

Yankees left-hander Jaime Garcia allowed three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out three over 5 1/3 innings. Mets right-hander Robert Gsellman surrendered three runs (two earned) on four hits and three walks while striking out two over 5 1/3 innings.

NOTES: The Mets had to shuffle their lineup when INFs Jose Reyes and Wilmer Flores were each scratched with ribcage injuries after batting practice. C Travis d'Arnaud started at third base, his first professional appearance there, and regularly switched places on the diamond with 2B Asdrubal Cabrera. ... Mets RHP Matt Harvey (right shoulder) tossed three scoreless innings in a rehab start for Class A Brooklyn. ... Yankees LHP CC Sabathia (right knee) threw a 25-pitch bullpen session and is expected to return to the rotation Saturday against the Boston Red Sox. ... Yankees RHP Masahiro Tanaka (right shoulder) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Thursday.
