Recap

Mets 7, Nationals 1:
Ike Davis and Lucas Duda each homered twice and Matt Harvey allowed one run in seven innings to become the major leagues' first four-game winner for host New York.

Harvey (4-0) allowed four hits and pitched out of a bases-loaded no-out jam in the seventh inning. Davis and Duda hit solo homers in the sixth inning and both went deep again in the eighth to pace the New York offense.

The Nationals got off to a rough start as Mets leadoff batter Jordany Valdespin reached on an error by shortstop Ian Desmond and David Murphy’s single put runners on the corners. Valdespin scored on a wild pitch by Washington starter Stephen Strasburg (1-3), who allowed two earned runs and five hits in six innings, and Murphy came home on a two-out single by John Buck.

New York also put its leadoff batter on in the second, third and fourth innings but couldn’t take advantage. Davis homered on the first pitch of the sixth and Duda followed with another solo shot two batters later.

The Nationals got a run back in the seventh after Adam LaRoche walked to lead off the inning, took second on Desmond’s single and came home on a base hit to left by Chad Tracy. Washington loaded the bases with none out, but Harvey struck out Kurt Suzuki, got pinch-hitter Roger Bernadina to foul out to the catcher and leadoff hitter Denard Span to ground out to second to end the inning.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Harvey came into the game as the first pitcher since 1900 to throw at least seven innings in four consecutive starts and not allow more than three hits or one run. … Davis entered 3-for-8 against Strasburg with a home run, the only player on the Mets with an extra-base hit off the right-hander. … Nationals 2B Danny Espinosa missed his fourth straight game with a bruised forearm as a result of getting hit by a pitch Sunday against the Atlanta Braves.
