Cardinals 6, Brewers 1:
Matt Holiday belted a two-run homer among his three hits and Carlos Beltran added a solo shot to power visiting St. Louis to its fourth consecutive victory.

Shelby Miller (4-2) went six strong innings, allowing one run on seven hits, to beat Milwaukee for the second time in three weeks and send the Brewers to their third straight defeat. Jon Jay had two hits and a two-run double and Allen Craig added three hits for the Cardinals.

Kyle Lohse (1-3) was knocked around for four runs and 11 hits - both season highs - in five innings and lost to Miller and St. Louis for the second time this year. Aramis Ramirez had a pair of hits in his first game in nearly a month for the Brewers.

The Cardinals did the bulk of their damage against Lohse with two outs. Holliday hit a towering two-run homer to center in the third and Jay doubled over the head of Ryan Braun with two out in the fifth for a 4-0 lead.

Jonathan Lucroy's sacrifice fly in the sixth got the Brewers on the board, but Beltran answered that in the top of the seventh with his eighth homer. Milwaukee has managed only two runs in 35 innings against St. Louis' starters.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Brewers CF Carlos Gomez went 1-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to 10 games while Ramirez, who was back in the lineup for the first time since spraining his left knee April 5, has hit safely in each of his five games. ... The Cardinals announced that closer Jason Motte, who hurt his elbow in spring training, will undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery next week. ... St. Louis optioned RHP Mitchell Boggs to Triple-A Memphis and promoted highly touted RHP Carlos Martinez, who tossed a hitless inning in his major-league debut.
