Recap

Rangers 11, Angels 3: Nelson Cruz capped a nine-run fourth inning with a three-run homer and Yu Darvish struck out 11 in six scoreless innings as visiting Texas won the rubber match of the three-game series.

Darvish (4-1) allowed three hits and Lance Berkman had a homer and four RBIs as the Rangers remain the only team in the major leagues which has not lost consecutive games. Cruz, who also hit a three-run homer Tuesday and a grand slam Sunday, has 11 RBIs in his last four games.

Michael Roth (1-1) allowed five runs and six hits in 3 1/3 innings in his first major-league start for Los Angeles, which fell to 2-4 against Texas this season. Peter Bourjos extended his hitting streak to six games with an RBI single in the Angels' three-run eighth inning and is 11-for-22 during that span.

After the teams combined for four singles and a walk over the first three innings, Texas sent 13 batters to the plate in the fourth. A.J. Pierzynski and David Murphy started the outburst with RBI singles, Berkman drove in two with a single and Ian Kinsler walked with the bases loaded and eventually scored on a wild pitch.

Adrian Beltre walked for the second time in the inning before Cruz chased reliever David Carpenter by driving the first offering he saw over the center-field fence. Carpenter retired only one batter while allowing four runs, two hits and two walks.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Home plate umpire John Hirschbeck was struck in the groin by a foul ball during the fourth inning and was on the ground for several moments. Cruz has 24 homers against the Angels, his most against any team.
