Recap

Giants 3, Dodgers 2: Angel Pagan belted a tiebreaking home run in the eighth inning and host San Francisco edged Los Angeles in the rubber match of the three-game series.

Pagan led off the eighth with his fifth home run off Paco Rodriguez (3-4), who was pitching for the first time in eight days. Pagan lined Rodriguez’s 0-2 pitch off the top of the wall in left field and it caromed over to help San Francisco win the season series against the Dodgers 11-8.

Tim Lincecum yielded two runs while striking out six over seven innings, and Santiago Casilla (7-2) earned the win after pitching a perfect eighth inning. Sergio Romo retired the Dodgers in order in the ninth for his 38th save in 43 opportunities.

The Dodgers took an early lead in the first when Carl Crawford tripled with one out and scored on Adrian Gonzalez’s sacrifice fly, and they added another run in the fourth on Mark Ellis’ RBI double. Ellis had two hits for the Dodgers, who finish the regular season with three home games against Colorado.

Edinson Volquez allowed two hits through four innings before running into trouble in the fifth, when Nick Noonan scored on Pagan’s groundout and Gregor Blanco walked before scoring from first base on Brandon Belt’s double down the right-field line. Volquez surrendered two runs over five innings and remained winless in six games since joining Los Angeles.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Noonan started at third base in place of Pablo Sandoval, who missed the game due to flu symptoms. …San Francisco has won the season series against the Dodgers in back-to-back years for the first time since 2002-03. … Dodgers OF Andre Ethier (shin splints) is not expected to play this weekend against Colorado, but he’s hoping to return for the first round of the postseason.
