Recap

Giants 5, Rockies 2: Hunter Pence and Buster Posey homered as visiting San Francisco ended its season-high six-game slide despite Colorado's Michael Cuddyer extending his franchise-best hitting streak to 27 contests.

Madison Bumgarner (8-5) allowed a solo homer by Carlos Gonzalez in the sixth and scattered three other hits before exiting after seven innings. Cuddyer made the most of the pitching change by extending his streak and reaching base for a franchise-best 46th consecutive game as his grounder up the middle deflected off reliever Sandy Rosario and into the center field.

Tony Abreu collected three hits and Guillermo Quiroz added two - including an RBI single in the seventh inning - as the Giants avoided their first seven-game losing streak since June 26-July 2, 2010.

Posey homered for the second time in the series as he opened the scoring in the third inning by jumping on a 2-1 fastball from Drew Pomeranz (0-1), who was making his season debut. The reigning National League MVP gave San Francisco a 2-0 lead in the fifth with an RBI groundout, and Pence doubled the advantage by depositing a 1-0 curveball over the wall in right-center field.

Sergio Romo worked around a two-out double by Todd Helton in the ninth to secure his 19th save.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Pence snapped an 0-for-10 performance in his previous three games with a 2-for-5 effort on Sunday. ... OF Xavier Nady agreed to a minor-league contract with Colorado on Sunday. The 34-year-old was released by Kansas City after hitting .310 with 11 homers and 43 RBIs with Triple-A Omaha. ... Pomeranz posted an 8-1 mark in 15 starts for Triple-A Colorado Springs.
