Rockies 8, Cardinals 2: Jorge De La Rosa turned the tables on St. Louis with seven dominant innings as visiting Colorado avoided a three-game sweep.

The Rockies had managed a total of three hits off Cardinals pitchers while being shut out in the first two games of the series, but Troy Tulowitzki hit a three-run homer and Charlie Blackmon added a two-run shot to spark the offense on Sunday. Reid Brignac doubled in two runs and Dexter Fowler chipped in with an RBI single for Colorado.

St. Louis rookie Shelby Miller gave up a leadoff hit before retiring 27 straight on Friday and Adam Wainwright took a no-hitter into the eighth inning for the Cardinals on Saturday. It was De La Rosa’s turn on Sunday, as the left-hander went the first 6 2/3 innings without yielding a hit.

David Freese broke up the no-hit bid with a single and Jon Jay followed with a double to provide St. Louis’ only real threat against him, but De La Rosa (4-3) got Pete Kozma to line out to end the inning. De La Rosa allowed just the two hits and walked three while striking out seven.

Tulowitzki, who struck out five times in the first two games of the series, followed back-to-back, two-out singles from Jordan Pacheco and Carlos Gonzalez in the third by driving Jaime Garcia’s 2-1 slider into the stands in left field. Blackmon took Garcia (4-2) out to the front row in right-center in the sixth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Blackmon was making his first start after being recalled to replace Michael Cuddyer (neck), who was placed on the 15-day disabled list. … Garcia was charged with five runs and eight hits in six innings. The Rockies had been held to two or fewer runs in each of their previous five games. … St. Louis, which avoided the shutout with two runs in the ninth, lost for the second time in the last 11 games. The Cardinals will continue their homestand by welcoming the New York Mets for a four-game set on Monday.
