Tigers 17, Astros 2:
Miguel Cabrera was 4-for-4 with two home runs and a career high-tying six runs and Max Scherzer was dominant through eight innings as visiting Detroit easily won for the eighth time in nine games.

Cabrera crushed a two-run homer in the second and smacked a solo shot in the sixth to collect his 26th career multi-homer game. Victor Martinez also homered and drove in four runs and Torii Hunter was 4-for-5 and scored three times for the Tigers, who outhit punchless Houston by a whopping 21-6 margin.

Scherzer (4-0) won for the 19th time in 24 regular-season decisions going back to last year, allowing just one run and three hits while striking out eight. He retired 17 in a row at one point and was hurt only by Carlos Corporan's home run with two outs in the seventh.

Houston starter Lucas Harrell (3-3) was knocked around for eight runs and 10 hits in 4 1/3 innings. He struck out three and issued four walks, including one to Cabrera with the bases loaded in the fourth.

Cabrera's RBI single and Martinez's two-run double highlighted a four-run first and Cabrera made it 6-0 with his first blast one inning later. Alex Avila's RBI double made it 8-0 in the fifth and Cabrera later took reliever Jose Cisnero deep before the Tigers poured it on with eight runs over the last three innings.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cabrera, who also singled in a run in the seventh, has 327 career homers, four shy of Detroit legend Hank Greenberg. ...
