Rangers 3, Reds 2: Yu Darvish tossed 6 2/3 scoreless innings to outduel Mat Latos as host Texas held on to take the rubber match of the three-game interleague series.
Nelson Cruz had two hits and an RBI while Leonys Martin added two hits and scored twice to extend his hitting streak to 14 games for the Rangers, who have won nine of their last 11 contests and four consecutive series.
Darvish (8-3) allowed four hits and walked four while striking out eight en route to his first win in eight starts. Four relievers bridged the gap to Joe Nathan, who worked a perfect ninth for his 27th save in 28 opportunities.
Latos (7-2) suffered his second loss in three outings after yielding three runs - two earned - on eight hits over 6 2/3 innings. Jay Bruce went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Reds, who completed a 2-6 road trip with their fourth loss in five games.
Texas snapped a scoreless tie in the fifth inning, when Engel Beltre led off with a bunt single, advanced on Martin's double and scored on a squeeze bunt by Elvis Andrus. Martin also raced home on the play as Latos' throw home hit Beltre in the head and bounced away. Cruz made it 3-0 with an RBI single in the seventh.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The win was Darvish's first since May 16 against the Detroit Tigers. ... Beltre appeared injured when hit by Latos' throw in the fifth as he remained on the ground and was attended to by the club trainer, but he remained in the game in center field. ... Cincinnati cut the deficit to one in the eighth on back-to-back sacrifice flies by Bruce and PH Chris Heisey, but RHP Jason Frasor came on to record the final out of the frame with the tying run at third.
