Recap

Indians 10, Mariners 8 (10): Yan Gomes belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning, his second blast of the game, as Cleveland completed a four-game sweep of visiting Seattle.

After Justin Smoak homered in the top of the 10th to give Seattle an 8-7 lead, Michael Brantley singled and Drew Stubbs reached on an error in the bottom of the frame. Gomes, who homered in the second and had three hits, drilled a pitch from Charlie Furbush (0-3) over the left-field wall to give Joe Smith (2-0) the win.

Kendrys Morales recorded three hits and two RBIs and Kyle Seager added two hits, including a solo homer, for the Mariners. Endy Chavez also homered for Seattle, which has lost a season-high four straight.

The Indians took a 4-2 lead in the second when Ryan Raburn hit a three-run blast with two outs and Gomes followed immediately with a solo homer. Morales’ run-scoring single helped tie the game at 4 in the third and the Mariners came back two more times to tie, including Seager’s solo homer in the eighth to draw even at 6-6.

Seattle took a 7-6 lead in the top of the ninth on a pinch-hit solo homer by Chavez, his first of the season, off Chris Perez. Mariners’ closer Tom Wilhelmsen gave up two hits in the ninth and dropped Smoak’s toss at first base with two outs for an error to blow his first save in 12 opportunities.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Seager is 18-for-43 (.419) with two homers in 10 games at Cleveland’s Progressive Field. … Indians starter Scott Kazmir, who was 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA at home coming in, gave up five runs on seven hits and two walks in three-plus innings. … Seattle starter Hisashi Iwakuma retired the last seven batters he faced, but allowed five runs on seven hits in six innings overall.
