Recap

Indians 7, Tigers 6:
Ubaldo Jimenez pitched six strong innings to outduel an ineffective Justin Verlander as visiting Cleveland held off Detroit to even their series.

Asdrubal Cabrera had three hits and drove in a pair as the Indians won for the 11th time in 13 games. Jimenez (3-2) allowed one run and three hits, and struck out eight for the second consecutive start while Chris Perez allowed a run in the ninth before retiring Miguel Cabrera on a groundout with two on to earn his sixth save.

Verlander (4-3) allowed four runs (three earned), six hits, struck out seven and walked a season-high five in five innings. Omar Infante delivered a two-run triple and Jhonny Peralta hit a solo homer for the Tigers, who scored four runs in the seventh inning to make it 6-5.

Verlander threw 35 of his 110 pitches and walked three in the first inning, including one to Jason Giambi with the bases loaded, and also yielded Nick Swisher's one-out RBI double. Cleveland made it 3-0 in the second when Asdrubal Cabrera delivered a run-scoring double after Jason Kipnis singled with two outs.

The Tigers loaded the bases with none out in the seventh inning against reliever Nick Hagadone, who was relieved by Cody Allen. Brayan Pena greeted Allen with a sacrifice fly, Infante tripled into the right-center gap and Austin Jackson added an RBI groundout.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
2B Kipnis prevented a run in the ninth inning when he fielded Jackson's ground ball up the middle and flipped the ball behind his back to Cabrera for the force at second for the second out. ...
