Recap

Indians 7, Twins 3: Scott Kazmir threw six sharp innings to pick up his first win since 2010 and Jason Kipnis fell a double shy of the cycle as host Cleveland ran its winning streak to six games.

Nick Swisher also homered and Asdrubal Cabrera had an RBI double for the Indians, who have scored 53 runs in the six straight wins. Michael Brantley, Mark Reynolds and Ezequiel Carrera contributed to the 12-hit attack with an RBI single apiece.

Kazmir (1-1), whose last win was at Tampa Bay on Sept. 19, 2010, allowed two runs and five hits while striking out seven, his highest total in that category since May 1, 2010. He struck out the side in the fourth and retired the final six men he faced after Aaron Hicks' solo homer leading off the fifth.

With one out in the bottom of the first, Kipnis hammered a 3-1 fastball from Minnesota starter Kevin Correia (3-2) over the wall in center to start the scoring. Swisher homered one out later and Kipnis capped a two-run rally in the second with an RBI single to make it 4-1.

Hicks' homer, the first of his career, cut the Twins' deficit to 4-2, but Kipnis tripled with one out in the seventh to ignite another two-run rally as Cleveland seized control. Pedro Florimon and Ryan Doumit both had run-scoring singles for Minnesota.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Kipnis entered Cleveland's nine-game homestand Tuesday hitting .185 with four RBIs in 16 games. He is 7-for-18 with six RBIs in the first four games. ... Swisher had missed the previous three games with a shoulder injury. He is hitting .333 with all three of his home runs at home. ... Correia gave up four runs in five innings, his shortest start of the season.
