Recap

Reds 2, Cubs 1: Todd Frazier hit a go-ahead solo home run to help Mike Leake outduel Travis Wood as visiting Cincinnati ran its record winning streak at Wrigley Field to 12 straight.

Brandon Phillips added an RBI single for the Reds, who own the longest winning streak by a visiting team in the history of the second-oldest ballpark in the majors. Leake (6-3) surrendered one run and three hits in eight innings before Aroldis Chapman closed things out with a perfect ninth for his 17th save.

Nate Schierholtz homered and Wood (5-5) was the tough-luck loser for Chicago, allowing two runs on four hits in seven innings. The left-hander has yielded three runs or less in four of his five setbacks.

Frazier gave Cincinnati the lead in the seventh, reaching for a 1-0 cutter away and lining it into the stands in left field for a 2-1 lead.

Schierholtz opened the scoring in the second, when he drove Leake’s 1-0 sinker into the bleachers in right field for his eighth home run. The Reds pushed across the equalizer in the sixth on Phillips’ two-out single to center that chased home Shin-Soo Choo.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Chicago selected the contract of LHP Brooks Raley from Triple-A Iowa and placed RHP Zach Putnam (elbow soreness) on the 15-day DL. The Cubs are still waiting on RHP Henry Rodriguez, who was acquired from the Washington Nationals on Tuesday, to join the bullpen. … Wood, who came up with Cincinnati before being traded to the Cubs, remains winless in five starts against his former team. … The Reds have taken 19 of the last 22 meetings overall from Chicago.
