Recap

Reds 6, Cubs 4: Jack Hannahan's bases-loaded walk forced home the go-ahead run during a four-run eighth inning as visiting Cincinnati rallied to beat Chicago for the second straight day.

Alfonso Soriano blasted two-run homers to left in the first and third against rookie Tony Cingrani to give the Cubs a 4-2 lead, but the bullpen couldn't hold it. Carlos Marmol (2-2) allowed all three batters he faced to reach — hitting one batter and walking two — and all three came around to score after he left.

A day after nearly allowing Chicago to rally from a four-run deficit in the ninth, the Reds' bullpen was dominant this time. Logan Ondrusek and Jonathan Broxton each pitched perfect innings before Aroldis Chapman worked around a one-out walk in the ninth for his seventh save.

Hector Rondon was unable to strand any of the runners he inherited from Marmol, as Jay Bruce dumped an RBI single into left to make it 4-3 and Todd Frazier tied it with a sacrifice fly before Hannahan's go-ahead walk. Devin Mesoraco added a sacrifice fly to cap the inning as the Cubs dropped to 0-16 when allowing four or more runs.

Both starters went six innings. Chicago's Jeff Samardzija gave up two runs (one earned) and Cingrani allowed four runs on three hits. Samardzija, who surrendered a home run to Shin-Soo Choo on his first pitch of the game, remained winless since Opening Day.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Marmol made his 453rd career appearance, surpassing Lee Smith's franchise record. … Choo's leadoff home run was the seventh of his career. … Soriano has hit multiple home runs in a game 31 times.
